It all works, the problem is YOU!

The gig is up, no one else to blame.... you are the reason you have the reoccurring issue!
Shocking I know….
It felt like a splash of cold water on my face, when I first realized this cold hard truth about myself.
All the evidence based self-help books that I have purchased on topics such as…organization, diet, exercise, love, relationship, budget, parenting, pet training, cooking, furniture refinishing, candle making….
They ALL really do work – IF you
…..read them
…..follow the instructions
……are consistent with whatever process or plan the authors have researched and spelled out for you!
Though, you could do all three above, and still not be successful.
“It all works, the problem is YOU!”
Increase your odds of success by first BELIEVING that the plan is needed. You must strongly BELIEVE that you need what the plan is offering.
“It all works, the problem is YOU!”
Consider this, if you have ever gone on a diet, at some point you BELIEVED “I need to lose weight”, then at a different point you changed your belief and made the choice “Well, it’s not that bad. I’ll have another (slice, piece, etc.)”. Your belief that you ‘needed’ another piece ‘outweighed’ (pun intended) your belief that you needed to lose weight.
There is no perfect diet, no perfect organization plan…. Etc. The success of any realistic plan is tightly tied to YOUR BELIEF that you need the plan to work.
Consider how belief changes your reaction…
Scenario A: You are asleep in bed and you hear a strange sound and you BELIEVE it is an intruder….
Scenario B: You hear a strange sound…and you don’t BELIEVE it is anything to worry about…
In which scenario are you going to spring into action? Which will you ‘check it out in the morning’?
Our beliefs drive action… or inaction.
Consider this same concept as a leader ‘handing down’ or ‘dictating’ a plan that no one but the leader believes in…. The plan may be awesome, but without the belief that is needed to drive action –execution will be weak at best.
So the next time you pass judgment on the ‘plan’ that didn’t work, consider how strongly you BELIEVED that the plan was needed.
Choose what you believe in; Go forth; Conquer; and Plan Accordingly.
