5 Habits I Want To Embrace - Starting Now!

What are the habits you want to embrace? Habits that support us become a way of life! These are 5 that I'm working on embracing right now!
I thought I’d share with you 5 of the habits that I’m embracing, starting now. Some of them are habits I’ve formed and then lost and some of them are brand new. I actually have a longer list, but I don’t want to overwhelm myself so I’m starting with these. Some of these you may recognize from the book “The 4 Agreements.”
1. Embrace Change
- I want to make a habit of embracing change instead of stubbornly fighting against it. When I relax and “go with the flow” I’m less stressed. Change is inevitable and I’ve struggled with control my whole life. Fighting change has kept me stuck for far too long, and accepting change has moved me forward in my life faster than I ever could have imagined. Yet still, I find myself fighting. So the first habit to embrace is embracing change on a consistent basis.
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
- This comes from the 4 Agreements, and embracing the habit of not taking things personally has really supported me to maintain my self confidence in the past. It is a good habit to have but I’ve stopped practicing it over time. Today I embrace it again. A million different things happen, and if I become upset, agitated or frustrated over every single thing that happens, or that someone says I’d go mad. Starting a new business from scratch with no experience is a challenge. I get turned down all the time. Is it a reflection against me as a person? No, I’m a good person offering a wonderful service and I’ll keep trying until I find the organization or client base that truly value what I offer them.
3. Be Mindful
-Again, this is a consistent basis thing. I’ve been learning about mindfulness because it is really valuable to me in my personal and my professional life. I want to learn these mindfulness skills to improve myself if every way possible. And I enjoy it. But I forget to be consistent. Embracing the habit of being mindful is something I’m going to start doing today.
4. Speak My Truth
-Another self confidence issue. I want to embrace the habit of speaking my truth. My truth may be different from your truth but that doesn’t make it wrong. Just different. One of my core values is acceptance. If I can accept and respect the truth of other people why am I so scared to speak my own? Why am I afraid of what others might say or think? As I write this I realize that the #2 habit will serve me well in embracing the habit of speaking my truth.
5. Always Do My Best
- This comes from the 4 Agreements as well, but I find it very valuable to remember that my best may vary from day to day. As long as I know that I’m doing my best in each and every aspect of what I do I won’t live with regrets.

I think that when we practice habits we want to embrace for a long period of time they stop being habits and just become a way of “being”.
