Losing Track of Your Tasks?

What mechanisms do you use to track tasks and goals? Do you keep everything in your head? It is important to keep a disciplined tracking method.
As they say, the brain is fallible – meaning as humans we are prone to forget. This is no different if we are in the workplace or at home. So what do we do?
Studies have shown that exercising and maintaining a healthy diet are all important tactics positively influencing our memory.
What else? – Time Management
In addition what I have come across in the various organizations and clients I have coached and employees I’ve worked with is to maintain Time Management skills in mind to ensure we are proactively implementing practices to manage the many tasks that we encounter on a daily basis. Below are a few tips and tricks that I use or have seen clients use:
Tips:
- Implement a To Do List with task, due date and priority
- Reserve time slots in Microsoft Outlook to complete tasks
- Ensure to delegate necessary items to empower team members and leverage time to work on other duties
- Use smartphone apps such as (Todoist, Reminders, Voice Memos) to capture thoughts and organize tasks
- Create a vision board or goals with visuals, dates and milestones to help track success
Reflective Coaching Questions:
What system (if any) do you have in place to help you stay organized?
How do you prioritize amongst tasks that are pending? How effective is it for you?
How do you feel crossing items off of your to do list?
What is the best method of tracking tasks that works for you?
