5 Tips for Getting Unstuck

Are you stuck in a rut with your job, relationships, or lifestyle? Read this article to help you get unstuck and start living a happier life.
Many of us feel stuck at some point in our lives. Fun and play often get tossed aside when you’re living a responsible and busy life. The daily routine that includes work, taking care of loved ones, and managing the bills can make you feel robotic and uninspired.
The pressure to succeed and always be on the go can also keep you stuck. How often do you say "I should… " or "I have to… “? Those phrases reveal your stuckness and show you where you feel obligated to direct your energy.
You know when you are stuck or in a funk. Being stuck is an inner feeling that feels stagnant and immobilizing. It can lead to feelings of sadness and depression. It can cause you to say, “If only this would happen, then I’d be happy, skinny, fulfilled, satisfied, etc.”
It may not feel like it, but being stuck is an opportunity to embrace change and personal transformation. This could mean a change of perspective, a change of priorities, or even a change of scenery. Your stuckness could be telling you that what worked before doesn’t work anymore, and it’s your responsibility to see where you are resisting and what you can let go of.
Change doesn’t always happen overnight. Taking one positive step at a time is recommended for lasting change. So, here are five ways to help you start getting unstuck and back into life again:
1. Take risks. Are you living life in your comfort zone? Perhaps you need to boost your work or life to the next level. Do you keep yourself small in any way? What gives you a deeper feeling of joy and excitement? Is there something new you would love to do but haven’t mustered up the courage to do it yet?
2. Let go of the past. Your past can bind you and keep you from being truly free. Do you dwell on events that have already happened? What limiting beliefs do you keep rehashing from the past? Do you need to forgive someone? Do you need to forgive yourself? It’s time to let go of the people, things, and events that are holding you back.
3. Change it up. When you change your inner self, your outer self will shine. Try taking a different route to work. Eat at a new restaurant or go to a different store. Rearrange your furniture or add some flowers to your dining room table. Just one small change every day can make a big impact on how you feel and move through life.
4. Move and play. Moving your body and “playing” gets the positive energy flowing into your body and your life. Try some new ways to move, like dancing, yoga, or tai chi. Watch a funny movie with loved ones. Finger paint. Play Twister. Allow yourself to be free without restriction. What are some fun, playful things that you don’t usually make time for? Giving yourself time to be silly, play, and unwind can make a profound difference in bringing new energy into your life.
5. Be aware. Are there things in your life that you’re quietly ignoring? What are you not paying attention to? Have you noticed any negative patterns in your lifestyle or relationships? Do you put off things that are healthy for you? Are you expressing your emotions and feelings properly? Do you need to have a conversation with someone in order to move forward? Quite often, it’s what’s right in front of us that can cause our biggest stumbling blocks.
Try one of these suggestions or all of them to start getting unstuck and out of a funk. Remember to be gentle with yourself, and take the time to meditate, journal, or walk in nature to allow your inner guidance to come through.
Where you are in your life right now is where you need to be in order to grow, learn, and transform. Embrace it and keep moving forward.
