Ideal Day

Have you ever felt like your not being heard or respected at work? This blog discusses that feeling and offers a free coaching tool to help you.
Today on a coaching call I heard that all too familiar sentiment, “I feel like my voice is not being heard. I feel like I am not being respected.” I could instantly relate to my client’s feelings because that is how I felt at times during my career in the world of non-profits. Those two phrases come up over and over again in relation to most people’s relationships at work. They can also surface in our relationships with our spouses, friends and family.
As my client said those words I could feel my heart constrict just a little bit and in that moment I realized that the feeling of not being heard or respected is a universal problem in our world today. We feel like we are not being heard or respected by our government, in the workplace and sometimes even in our own homes.
In thinking back to my last job in non-profit, I felt how much I had really hated it. It was a bad situation from the beginning, which simply got worse because I was too afraid to admit to myself that working in an office no longer fit with who I had become. I remembered how good it felt after I was fired. Yes it was traumatic, but it was so freeing to be released from having to pretend that job suited me in any way, shape or form. Thinking back, it became clear that at least part of the feeling of not being heard and respected was actually because I hadn’t been listening to or respecting my own inner voice that was trying to tell me to move forward with my life.
As I thought more about the concept of not listening to my own voice and respecting myself enough I realized I wasn’t the only one. Maybe at least part of that universal feeling of not being heard or respected was coming from somewhere deep inside all of us as we grapple with the idea of who we are and who we want to be in the world.
I believe that there is a very real need in this world for each of us to learn how to listen to that voice deep inside. From personal experience I know that by not listening to that voice we create emotional pain and unnecessary drama in our lives. At the very least by not listening to that voice we keep ourselves from feeling more overall joy and satisfaction.
As I write this blog, there are all kinds of “coachy” things flying through my head that I could say at this point but instead, I’d like to give you a free coaching tool that you can use to see what your possible future could look like when you start to listen to that voice inside instead of ignoring it. I’m offering this tool because coaching is really about facilitating healing and helping others find their own best solutions for their lives.
This tool is called “Ideal Workday.” It’s a fun visualization technique to give you a simple way to connect with your inner self. If you approach this tool with an open mind it can give you a clearer picture of what you really want out of a career. Please see my blog page on my website, (anandatransformations.com) for the link to the Ideal Workday tool. Happy visualizing!
