Adaptogens for Human Performance Maximization
Blog Post Adaptogens
Adaptogens are stress deactivators.
When the body is not stressed it tends to find health on its own accord.
Adaptogens increase our ability to cope with stress and stabilize stress levels.
Adaptogens are plants and herbs and the come in many form: Leaves, roots, berries, vines, etc.
There are hundreds of thousands of different causes of stress and for each one of us there are hundreds of thousands of unique effects.
Adaptogens reverse, prevent, inhibit, and deactivate the stress signals and stress causes and effects.
Adaptogens mimic, stimulate, produce, utilize, and multiply the stress reducing signals and stress reducing causes and effects.
Some work by mimicking proper hormones when good hormones are lacking in amount, and they prevent signaling of excessive hormone levels.
Adaptogens bind to similar receptors to trick the body into thinking it has sufficient levels when they are too low, or similarly bind to receptors and prevent excessive amounts of hormones from being able to bind. This helps your body maintain homeostasis and signaling sensitivity and efficiency.
Adaptogens help your adrenal glands create a stronger hormonal response when necessary. Helpful for strenuous exercise and stressful times mentally and physically. Or like at the beginning of the day so you can be alert and focused.
Adaptogens prevent excessive stress on your adrenal glands by inhibiting their activation. Turns adrenal glands off sooner after stress response is no longer needed. Like when it is time to go to bed. Or like after a workout to maximize recovery.
Adaptogens help lower the stress hormones, like cortisol, when it is too high (like when you are getting ready to go to bed).
Adaptogens help raise stress hormones, like cortisol, when it is too low (like in the morning when you need to start moving and performing well.
Adaptogens maintain hypothalamic receptor sensitivity. This prevents adrenal fatigue upstream, in the brain, by reducing the amount needed by the brain to get a sufficient response. Reduced need for hormone production.
Adaptogens increase glucose uptake by cells. This improves metabolism and energy production, improved blood sugar levels.
Adaptogens are Central Nervous System stimulators but function outside of the pathways that normal stimulants (caffeine, amphetamines, etc.) use.
Adaptogens are generally a great source of minerals
Some inhibit the breakdown of neurotransmitters (ACh)
Adaptogens are thought to be effective for increasing physical and mental capacity, improving resilience, reducing fatigue, improving stamina, improving resistance to disease, and create an anti-aging environment in the body.
