If the Truth hurts, change your belief. Maybe it's A truth, but not YOUR truth!

A belief is nothing more than a story we tell ourselves over and over and once we lock it in the subconscious mind, it becomes the truth. Why?
We all create our own truths to protect ourselves, make ourselves feel better, or justify an action. Just imagine for a moment, if much of what you’ve learned from your parents, from society, from school, from a doctor, wasn’t the truth at all…what if they were only beliefs? Let me tell you a little story that a friend told me. “Every year at Christmas a young mother would cut off both ends of a ham before putting in the oven to bake. One year, her husband asked her why she did that and she said it was because her mom did it that way. So, the husband asked her mom why she did that. Mom’s response was the same…that she did it that way because grandma did it that way. Finally, he asked grandma why she always cut off both ends of the ham before she cooked it and her response was, “Because I didn’t have a big enough pan to cook the whole ham.”
Ever think there’s a possibility that many things you do, say, or believe are passed on because that’s the way everyone around you did it or said it; perhaps for numerous generations? Have you ever stopped and really thought about Why? While some of these beliefs may be wonderful, some of them may be holding you back. Some of the “truths” you’ve been exposed to could just be beliefs (someone else’s beliefs) that you have learned. How do you tell the difference? Think about a similar situation to the story above and consider the following questions: Is there another way? A better way? A more effective way? A more economical way? A faster way? A kinder way? You get the point. If so, change the belief to something that serves you. If not, keep that belief and lock it in as truth.
Bruce Lipton says, “The subconscious mind is a million times more powerful than the conscious mind and that we operate 95 to 99 percent of our lives from subconscious programs. Your subconscious beliefs are working either for you or against you, but the truth is that you are not controlling your life, because your subconscious mind supersedes all conscious control. So when you are trying to heal from a conscious level—citing affirmations and telling yourself you’re healthy—there may be an invisible subconscious program that’s sabotaging you.”
A belief is nothing more than a story we tell ourselves over and over and once we lock it in the subconscious mind, it becomes the truth. Why? Because the subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between a belief and a truth. The positive side to this is: if you can change an old belief that has been holding you back and you can think about it in a new way…a way that serves you better, eventually this new belief will take over the old belief and the subconscious mind will believe the new truth.
“Every man gives his life for what he believes … one life is all we have to live and we live it according to what we believe.” ~ Joan of Arc
So, consider all the beliefs that you have held for years and determine if they are yours or if they have been “transferred” to you. If your life is truly nothing more than a collection of beliefs, doesn’t it make sense to believe in things/ways that support you, nurture you, protect you, move you; make you happy? It’s a choice, that’s the truth. Start your new story today and write your own chapters. It’s truly that easy…believe that!
