It's time to stop stepping up to the plate of life and hoping to get walked through it. Take a chance and just Swing Batter.. Batter Swing!
I was sitting here today thinking about my childhood years of playing baseball and I got a life message out of it. Being that I don’t like to keep my messages to myself, I decided to share it with all of you!
I played baseball back when I was in grade school. I started back in the 1st grade when we use to call it T-Ball and I played until the 5th grade. The position I played was pitcher, you know the guy that pretty much controls the game because if I didn’t throw the ball nothing else could happen. Pitching was my thang and I got pretty good at it so I stuck with it throughout my short baseball career. Besides all the other positions seemed pretty boring to me because if the ball never came your way you didn’t do anything but stand out in the sun and look around.
One thing that stands out to me is the fact that out of the 5 years that I played baseball I only hit the ball once (not including my T-Ball year). See I was one of them that use to go up to bat and hope to get walked because if I could just get on base I would most likely score. Instead of relying on my own abilities to move me forward I would rely on the pitchers mistakes. I did not hit that ball until I was in the 5th grade and not only did I hit the ball, but I almost hit a HOMERUN.
WOW….. My first time ever relying on myself to move forward I almost hit a HOMERUN and not only did I move forward on my own abilities, but I also allowed others to move forward that was relying on me. I thought man if I could do that the first time actually swinging the bat then imagine what the second time would be like. The only problem was, that was the last game of baseball I ever played. My second chance to knock the ball out of the park never came!!
……………………… LIFE LESSON AHEAD…………………………..
How many times have we relied on others to move us forward and not ourselves?
How many times have we been good at just defense (like I was in baseball) and not offense or been good at just offense and not defense?
WE NEED TO BE GOOD AT BOTH!!!!!
See just like my baseball story. I had great defense, as long as that ball was in my hands I was in control of where I wanted to place it. I could throw it left, right, up or down. I could even curve it if I wanted to. I was in control but still I fell short of being a complete player. See when I got up to bat I was so focused on the possibility of me missing the ball that I never just believed in myself enough to SWING BATTER.. BATTER SWING!!!!!!
How many times in life have we been great when the ball was in our hands? Everybody has had the ball in their hands at one point in time. As long as we had what we thought was control over things we was good. Then life takes over and decides OK lets see if you can play offense as well as defense!
GUESS WHAT…….. YOU JUST LOST YOUR “CONTROL”!
Now the question is what are you going to do to get the control back?
Relying on others can only get you so far. It’s time to rely on yourself. The next time life puts you up to bat don’t rely on life to just hopefully walk you through. Take a chance at life and just Swing Batter.. Batter Swing………………………. HOMERUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“I AM” KING!
