Two Breakthrough Questions to Change Your Life

Ask yourself these two breakthrough questions and begin to change your life.
There was a time in my life when I did not have goals. At least, no goals that I had really articulated. I had some ideas of what I might like to do, you know, “someday”. But instead of focusing those ideas, defining goals, and working to achieve them, I kept putting them off as “someday” things. The problem is, as life goes on, there are fewer and fewer “somedays” to work with. Without realizing it, I had become stuck, and had stayed there for years. Then one day many years ago while attending a workshop, I experienced a breakthrough moment. The instructor asked me what I planned to do with the skills that I was developing, what direction I was going. I told him what I could see myself working on in the future. Nodding his head, he said “Yes, I can see you doing that. Everything you need is in place.” He then asked me a question that nobody had ever asked me before, in my entire life: “So, why aren’t you doing it already?” I thought about this for a moment, started to speak, caught myself, thought some more, and finally replied “…I…don’t know.” You see, everything I could come up with as a reason why I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do was not really a reason at all. It was an excuse. I went home from that workshop thinking very hard about many things. For the first time in my life, I began to set goals. The foundation of my practice as a life coach is my belief that people have the power to change their lives. And changing your life often comes down to asking the right questions at the right times. A life coach specializes in that very thing. So, my friend, I am asking you: What do you want to do with your life, and why aren’t you already doing it? It is just the beginning, but it is a great place to start!
