During our lives we will encounter some level of struggle, and we can learn to face our challenges instead of allowing them to rule over us
Have you ever wanted to go on vacation, but there’s a stack of bills that need to be paid first? Or wanted to get to work on time, but there is unexpected construction on your usual route? You carefully planned your week ahead in your planner, but one call disrupts the entire week. Or you have finally said “no” to simply allowing each day to roll into the next, but it seems so much easier to stay in your comfort zone than to take those small steps to lasting changes.
During our lives we will experience times where we are challenged, and times where we will encounter some level of resistance, opposition, or struggle.
Yes! We have all been there and some of us are experiencing it right now. This is the way life goes, and it can be AMAZING if you know how to handle it.
We all face the unexpected, but depending upon how we look at each unique situation, we can embrace the challenges in our life or we can let them take over and allow ourselves to live at the effect of our circumstances.
It is a lot like dancing with a partner. With no resistance, it feels as if you’re dancing with a wet noodle. However, with even a little tension, you can perform creative twists and turns that will leave everyone amazed.
Just like dancing, when facing the unexpected challenges in life, you begin to discover another unique benefit…STRENGTH.
Strength only comes from pushing or pulling against strong resistance. The only way to develop strength, physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually, is to face our challenges and engage it.
Here are a few things to remember when you are engaging with the oppositions in your life:
Timing
In any dance, timing is so important. You don’t want to perform a twist or turn until the right amount of resistance is there to support your strength. With that said, understand the timing for your engagement with a specific challenge is valuable.
Partner
It is so important to choose the right partner in a dance. Similarly, when you embrace your challenges, it is always valuable to know that you don’t have to be alone. Who is your support network? Who is in your corner to help you think things through and to keep you accountable?
Trust
One of the most important elements about dancing with any partner, is the trust you develop with him/her. So when you determine who is in your corner, that person who would encourage you to not only embrace your challenge and engage with them, but YOU must be also be able to trust him/her.
You will never be able to completely escape your challenges, so you might as well meet them and discover the hidden riches that lie within you.
When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way. ~ Wayne Dyer
