“To think is easy. To act is hard. But the hardest thing in the world is to act in accordance with your thinking.” – Goethe
Peak Performance is the goal of everyone who aims to be consistently successful. We all have different talents and different strengths, and we have all cultivated these talents to some degree. Not all of us are Olympic athletes or Billionaires, but my illusion is that we all want to be the best that we can be.
Psychologists, Sports experts and coaches have studied the mental habits of successful people to find out what it is that makes them consistently out-perform the competition.
Using biofeedback technology it has even become possible to self-monitor key areas of both the mind and body while engaged in different tasks, and research has discovered many factors that contribute to Peak Performance. The most important factor is mental attitude and emotional mastery.
How to Reach Peak Performance Regularly
Preparation is key. When the game starts your attention needs to be entirely focused. There is no time to rethink strategy or to consider alternatives. Make sure the preparation is done beforehand.
Develop a success routine. Research has shown that athletes and businessmen who have developed a ‘pre-game’ routine to help them relax and focus are more successful than the competitors who don’t. Consider your preparation rituals, and develop habits that work for you.
Get into The Zone. For each of us, “the zone” is a very personal thing. It is a balance between focus, a little positive anxiety, courage, and single-minded purpose. A big part of entering the zone is the intention we crystalize, and the will power we develop to back up that intention.
Study the Zone. When you have managed to get there, make sure you pay attention to the way it feels, how your mind is working, how your body reacts, and how you breathe. Next time it will be easier to ‘get into the zone’ and reach the same level of performance.
Visualize your success. By using visualization techniques you can strengthen the neural pathways in the brain associated with achieving success. The body actually plays along, and if you are visualizing strongly, you might notice changes in heart rate, blood pressure and breathing.
Imagineering. Call into existence that which you want to attract. Walt Disney had the vision, faith and then put action into the cause, which he was able to dream before it existed. Select an outcome, compelling reasons why you want this dream, and then draw the MAP (massive action plan) congruent with your goals.
Find a great master peak performance coach. Having the right game plan to succeed is never a vague, uninspired thing. A good knowledge base, exceptional insight and the proper motivation are all necessary. A good master peak performance coach can educate you in how to reach peak performance levels as a rule, and not just by some lucky chance.
Besides these important strategies, there is a whole science behind Peak Performance. Throughout my years of coaching individuals and groups, I have come to know many valuable techniques, and have found that the right technique is not always the same technique for everyone.
