The Impact of thoughts

How are thoughts affect us
Our thoughts literally create our world. They color every single aspect of our lives. They impact emotions. Control and limit us. Brings us down or bring us up. Nothing happens until we think about it whether it is choosing a school to go to, starting a business or taking a trip around the world.
We are constantly impacted or affected by our thoughts, conscious as well as subconscious. Most of the thoughts that impact us seemingly come from nowhere. Some call it the unconscious or subconscious. Often times it seems like we are on autopilot. A thought surfaces, we are impacted by it then the body follows. It could be the thought of food followed by a trip to the kitchen. It could be the thought of an old partner, followed by sadness, depression, guilt or regrets. It could be the thought of an upcoming speech or report that has to be presented, followed by anxiety, fear and dread.
Negative limiting views and thoughts are often learned then perpetuated with years and even decades of repetition. Look at influences current and past. Look at role models and family members. Look at the people you live with. Look at friends you spend a lot of time with. Look at people, celebrities, etc that you look up. Listen to the way they talk about life, the world or themselves. Are they supportive or are they negative and pessimistic? Are they positive cup half full type people or is the world against them? You may not realize it, but all of these people will have an impact on the way you think.
It is possible to develop a more effective way of handling thoughts that arise, rather than allowing them to impact us negatively. The first step to getting a grip on our thoughts is to start to “pay attention” to them. Once you start this, you will begin to see the kind of thoughts that cycle through your mind on a constant basis. You may also start to notice themes. They might be positive, negative, pessimistic, small thinking, petty, generous, fearless, fearful, steeped in doubt anxious, hostile etc.
Once we start watching, we can start to make adjustments or start thinking in ways we consider more effective or more positive rather than allowing the old redundant negative and limiting thoughts to keep or bring us down. You can choose your thoughts. The mind doesn’t have to be in control of you. You can choose thoughts that are powerful and positive rather than week. You can choose thoughts that elevate you rather than bring you down.
