How Your Emotions and Beliefs Don't Support Intention

The Law of Attraction supports the concept that you are a living magnet; you invariably attract into your life the people, situations and circumstance
Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life.” Anthony Robbins
There are four fundamental laws that flow from the Law of Cause and Effect. These four laws seem to underlie all the happiness and success we experience in life. Unhappiness and failure tend to come from violating one or more of these four laws in some way.
The Law of Attraction supports the concept that you are a living magnet; you invariably attract into your life the people, situations and circumstances that are in harmony with your dominant thoughts.
Cited as one of the oldest universal laws and one that was made more famous by the movie and book “The Secret”, this law essentially supports the view that everything you have in your life, you attracted to yourself by the way you think. The magic of the law is that you can change your thinking thereby changing the person you are. If this concept is so simple, why have so many of us resisted this law of positive change?
Author and self-help counsellor, Daylle Deanna Schwartz, has very creatively analyzed and broken down the aspects of the Law of Attraction into 218 blog posts covering things like how long it takes to manifest and what we often do wrong in thinking we are attracting. One of the greatest insights in reading her materials was the aspect of resistance and how it can be a major block in our not manifesting and creating the desired changes in our lives.
Understanding resistance is a hard concept for many of us to accept since it all comes down to being our own responsibility despite the fact that we are not sure how to change our negative thoughts. Examples of some of the emotions that can form resistance may include: fear, doubts, envy, anger, shame, indignation (note Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions). This resistance can be surface level and it can be subconscious. Even defending that you are not resisting can reinforce resistance. In other words, the Universe is hearing that what you say you want is not as strong as how you feel about it.
Here are some further ways you can be demonstrating resistance:
> Thoughts of what you don’t want is resistance
> Working like crazy is resistance
> Any negative feelings are resistance
> Worrying about paying bills is resistance
> Fear of not cutting it in a job that pays more is resistance
> Feelings of frustration can be resistance.
Intellectually, you may want something but if your emotions and beliefs don’t support your intentions, you have resistance and will continue to be in a wanting state. This often leads to feeling more negative emotions and presto the more resistance you will have. Breaking this cycle can be challenging – awareness is the first step. The more you can identify your resistance, the better chance you have of lowering it and the better your chance of implementing the Law of Attraction.
