The Law of Cause and Effect states that every cause has an effect and every effect becomes the cause of something else.
“Everything we do, even the slightest thing we do, can have a ripple effect and repercussions that emanate. If you throw a pebble into the water on one side of the ocean, it can create a tidal wave on the other side.” Victor Webster
Brian Tracy was very wise in observing and studying the habits of highly successful people. Not only did he model the learning he obtained, Brian then translated for us these secrets of business and personal success in his 70+ business books.
One book that stands out is “The 100 Absolutely Unbreakable Laws of Business Success.” For those of us planning to have 2015 be the year that we become unstoppable, a review of each of these laws may be of help as you manifest your success.
The Law of Cause and Effect states that every cause has an effect and every effect becomes the cause of something else. This law suggests that the universe is always in motion and progressing through a chain of events.
For every specific effect there is a specific cause. For example, if your business is not profitable, it could mean that you did not provide enough value or perhaps your pricing is wrong. You should be paid equally for the value you create. If you hold something back and do not give everything you can, based upon the principle of Cause and Effect, profits will be held back from you too.
Some people want to be successful but they refuse to give everything they can to succeed. They refuse to get into good habits, learn new skills and create value. That is surely not going to bring them success. Essentially, the law supports, you cannot get anything for free; everything comes with a price.
It has been suggested that if you think you are doing everything right but you still don’t see positive effects, it could be because you are still in the process of outgrowing your past mistakes. Maybe in the past you were negative and now you are still suffering negative effects that you caused. With time, those negative effects will disappear and you will be left only with good effects.
Some people misunderstand the law of cause and effect and do not realize why they are not successful, although they work hard. When you think about it, working hard does not always produce any value. It only drains your energy and makes you struggle. That, in turn, produces poor results.
Working hard is the worst way to work. You should enjoy your work and put your heart into it, producing value with love. This is exactly opposite to the hard work and struggle. The more enjoyment, energy and heart you will put into your work, the more successful you will become.
That is why pursuing a passion is the best way to live. You will effortlessly create value if you are doing what you love.
The theme or purpose of the law of cause and effect is not punishment. The purpose of the law is to learn how to think, how to act, how to behave with others, and how to love. Remember that our understanding of the world is limited by time and by our location. The law, however, is not limited. So, for example, it might take eons of time before a wrong is righted, but the scales of justice will be evened out and each person will get his or her punishment or reward.
The French philosopher Voltaire said that words like luck, chance and coincidence were invented to express the known effects of the unknown causes.
Earl Nightingale was a pioneer in the field of personal development and he supported the theory of the Law of Cause and Effect. He recorded one of the most powerful personal development recordings on the Law and called it “The Strangest Secret.” He used it with his sales team 40 years ago. It illustrates the Law of Cause and Effect and that you reap what you sow. The link can easily be found on YouTube. Enjoy!
“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.” George Bernard Shaw
