A new approach to your job search

This is a new thought
Do not spend time worrying that you have not landed your ideal job. Do not let time waste away reviewing the positions you have interviewed for and heard nothing back. Perhaps it is time to consider a new approach.
You must be fully dedicated to your decision to move on. You must be able to say “I am mentally separated from my position”. If so, you are ready to move on. Notice I am referring to your position and not your company. That is because, I believe you can move within your company and be equally happy in a new position within your current company as outside in a new environment. Therefore, I believe your current employer is the best place to start your job search. If that doesn’t work for you then you have other options.
You will need to start with a search plan. At Partners Coaching, we suggest you diarize one or two evenings per week (if you are employed) or several hours per day if you are not employed, for contacting your network, applying for advertised roles, writing cover letters and sending your customized resumes.
When we are coaching clients, many ask why they are so often not hearing back from companies after spending so much time customizing their resumes and cover letters to specific advertised positions. The answer is that some of the positions advertised have incomplete job descriptions and therefore your resumes will not be suitable for the role when read by the decision makers. Many of the positions posted are incorrect or out of date and therefore your resume will not be considered. One of the areas that so many job seekers fail to investigate is the hidden job market. At Partners Coaching we assist our clients by discovering the positions that are not advertised.
Your plan is in place and you are faithfully following it. You understand how to tackle the positions that are not advertised and you are taking full advantage of your network. Do you have a full understanding what it is that you really want to do? If not, there are establishments that we recommend where you can have assessments completed to establish your skills set, and positions that may be of interest. At Partners Coaching, we can recommend full details.
Make sure your social media platforms are speaking for you and not against you. Linked In, Facebook and Twitter for example should be up to date and listed on your resume. However, make sure they are professional and post only what you are proud to show. Your employer or future employer will search these sites. Do not post anything that you do not want an employer to see.
You must be able to clearly communicate to the hiring managers your brand, profile, strengths and both hard and soft skills. You are sure to be asked about these issues during your interviews. You must be able to clearly and directly communicate in order to create a personal connection. If you are not working, try volunteer work. It looks great on a resume, allows you an opportunity to gain experience, network and learn new ones.
