Success Is A Tough Choice

The evidence of your effort surrounds you. Look at your life. Are you where you want to be? If not start with just a few simple things to begin your journey to success.
Be Real with Yourself
Examine your motives for success and rid yourself of any jealousy, malice, insecurity, pain or resentment that is driving you. Before you can make the journey to success, you have to make peace with your story (your past). It takes courage and wisdom to understand that every day of your life was designed to make you the person you are supposed to be. You’ve got to be good with that.
Re-evaluate Your Friendships
Get rid of people who pull you down and are not on the same success journey as you. If you are on a positive road to purpose and they are constantly pulling you into snarky, petty, time-wasting situations, you have to make the choice to distance yourself. The friendship is not going to work unless the two of you are on the same page. If you believe in faith and hard work and they believe in “fake it til you make it” then you have to cut them loose.
Re-examine Your Boundaries
Your family and friends may have made choices that differ from your own. Your ability to set boundaries is critical to your success. That includes freeing yourself from financial and emotional bondage caused by the choices of others. When your cousin chooses to pay her $800 car payment and asks you to pay her rent, say NO. When you girlfriend interrupts your day with non-productive slanderous gossip, hang up the phone.
Learn to Sacrifice
Develop a savings plan to get what you want. Don’t just splurge as a way of life. Buy property before your luxury car. I love shoes and bags like the next girl. But, I bought my first town home at 27 and my first single family home at 29. I bought my Benz, my BMW and other non-appreciating assets like Louis Vuitton bags and Chanel sandals after that AND only once my IRA was maxed out and my savings was comfy. Prioritize!
Do Not Be Led By Your Feelings
Feelings are over-rated and I have never met a successful person who always chooses fun and feeling over doing the hard work. When you “feel” something take the time to research, plan, and evaluate if your “feeling” is substantiated. Allow your feelings to work with your faith and intellect.
Be Resilient
You are going to suffer set backs along the way. You may take a well meaning detour or two but do not lose focus on what you want for your life. Protect your destiny at all costs. Life is real and real stuff happens. Keep your head out of the clouds and your mind set in faith to achieve all the you want to achieve. Keep making tough choices to get back on track. Don’t give up!
