What Are You Doing to be Intentional in the New Year

It's time to live your best life OUT LOUD and on PURPOSE. Read my article on how to live intentional in the new year.
I can’t believe how close we are to another year. We are just days away from entering into a new season. A time when we start to create goals for the new year, resolutions and promises to ourselves, and start the path to change.
As we embark upon a new year, I have really been thinking about the word, “intentional.” This word has been on my mind for a few weeks and I have struggled to figure out why. I finally realized this must be God’s message to me for the new year. To be intentional in 2015. So I did my research and I couldn’t really find much on being intentional that spoke to me and made me say, “Ah ha!” Then, I began to really think long and hard about what it means to be intentional. I started with the definition of intentional which means to deliberately do something on purpose. Immediately, I had my Ah ha! moment and it started to become clear to me. As I began to break this definition down further, I thought about premeditation and preplanning to do or make something happen. Often, we premeditate, and in the case of going into 2015, most of us are preplanning for the next year. So we preplan or premeditate on what we are going to do and how we will intentionally set out to do it. Again, another Ah ha! moment which helped me to come up with 3 steps to help you as well as myself to be intentional in the new year.1. Make the decision. Change always starts with the mindset. Most of what we plan to do starts with making a decision to do it. In this case, don’t just make the decision, but stick with it. Develop the “no matter what it takes” mindset to be intentional in 2015.
2. Create a plan. Remember I stated earlier that being intentional is about deliberately doing or making something happen. When you deliberately do something, you think it out first (preplan or premeditate). Think long and hard as to how you plan to be intentional in your life, career, or business in 2015. Write out the plan and then follow step 3.
3. Take action. Now that you’ve made the decision and created the plan, now you must take action. When a person premeditates on doing something, they think it out the plan of how they are going to take action step by step and then they set out to do it. Don’t make the decision or create the plan if you are not willing to take the necessary action. Being intentional is all about following through with your plan until it is complete. I think the makers of Nike said it best, “Just do it!”
