Reverse planning your coach practice start-up could be the key to your success

Starting a coaching practice doesn't have to be hard. Here's one simple tool that helped me more than anything else with my own start-up.
If I could give you just one tool to help you reach your dream of starting up your own coaching practice, it would be this – Do One Thing Every Day.
This simple, practical tool, that works in reverse to traditional planning, helped me more than anything else when I was starting my own coaching business. Here’s how it works.
Every day you do just-one-thing towards your goal (you can do more if you feel inspired to, but don’t tell your inner resistance that or it will get all uppity) and then record the action that you took in a journal, along with the date. Record everything you can think of, even abstract achievements like spending time thinking about your ideal clients.
For people who don’t love to plan, this tool creates a reverse plan. Rather than trying to pre-empt all the necessary steps before you take them, you simply move forward each day in an intuitive way, taking the steps that you can, and that feel most positive. Your daily record will create a retrospective map of your progress and you’ll be able to identify any gaps.
Now, this approach might not suit everyone, but if you’re an intuitive type, or you’re an action-first person, you’ll probably love it. At the end of a month or so you’ll have accumulated quite an impressive list of actions taken, which feels great and you’ll be inspired to do more! Best of all, those small daily actions actually translate into the real world as major steps towards your coach practice start-up, and it doesn’t feel like you’ve done anything particularly hard or scary.
Sounds easy, right? It is. So get out there today and take a step towards your wonderful life as a coach with just-one-thing.
