A Manifesto

Are you wanting to start up: A new business, A blog, work-out regimen? Are you dreaming about a whole new chapter in your life and ready to finally make that happen?
This START-UP Manifesto will help you finally get going and keep going on your game changing ideas? Take these steps to make your vision become reality.
1. Decide to Decide
Take the bold step that will get you out of the state of not knowing to do next, and into the place of committing to what you want to make happen. When you officially decide to START your new venture, you are then suddenly “in pursuit” instead of meandering around in uncertainty. In order to take a trip, you have to know where you are going and what you will do when you get there, so you don’t get off the plane wondering what your plan is. The only bad decision is indecision.
2. Do you feel the Butterflies in your stomach? Good! It is that excited/nervous energy that lets you know you are engaging with you life’s true passion. If it doesn’t make your heart race, it may not be worth taking the risk. Magic happens outside the comfort zone.
3. Start talking about it: Share your ideas out loud. Put it out there to the universe, to your friends, family and strangers. Confidently tell others that this is what you are doing, and you will be surprised how this will attract synergy and make your plan come alive and real. You never know who may know just the right person for you to meet or who can share their expertise. Speak your dreams regularly.
4. Have direction. Know where you want to go. Make a plan. (it is allowed to change) but map out actions you need to take, deadlines you would like to meet, people you need to talk to, administrative tasks to be accomplished, etc. This will guide you with the wind in your sails in the direction you want to go, instead of allowing yourself to drift aimlessly in the currents wondering where you will end up. Know the specific result that you want to achieve and get out in front of your idea and steer it.
5. CARVE OUT TIME: we could all say that we would love to do something if we just had the time. Well, if this is something that you really want to do, you will need to make it a priority and make the time. Block it out in your calendar and make it your professional office hours to work on your new start-up. Be fierce with your time, and don’t let your productivity be hijacked.
6. Break it down. Overwhelm is squelched when you break down the tasks into attainable and manageable bite size goals that you can successfully accomplishments. Go to farmers market on Friday and buy fresh veggie is attainable steps instead of saying eat more healthy. The smaller and more achievable the task, the more successful you will be, and you will set yourself up for wins.
7. Create a Habit. It only takes 30 times to make something a habit. Once you form a habit, it becomes autopilot; like brushing your teeth. It is no longer a chore or a practice, just a way of life. Write for 10 minutes a day, everyday, and suddenly you will crave this discipline. Take regular action and it become habit, not work.
8. Get an Accountability partner Find that person who you will check in with around the goals you set for yourself. Most solo-entrepreneurs find a life coach as their first hire, not a business partner, but a person who joins you in the visioning process, who holds you accountable to the follow through. You have to do your own crunches to get that six pack, but it sure helps to have a personal trainer helping you obtain that goal and keeping you on track.
9. Celebrate your first Nay-Sayers! You know your idea is taking form when people (loved ones or strangers) doubt or question your motives. This is the first chance you have of many to confidently reassure yourself, in fact, that this is what you clearly want to do.
10. DO IT NOW, because sometimes “later” becomes “never”! Fear and procrastination can give you the best excuses for why you haven’t started YET. You cannot ever know how your big idea will pan out until you give it a try. It is OK to take imperfect action, just keep it moving in all ways forward.
You don’t have to be good to start, but you do have to start to be good.
