That Kid in the Green Shirt

Going to a restaurant is an experience all it's own with an ADHD child. Add a play area and it's on!
I used to joke about planning our family outings around a meal time so we could eat a meal out. AN, which is after Nathan came into our lives, as opposed to BN, which stands for before Nathan came into our lives, changed that. We would almost draw straws to see who got to go do the shopping and who would stay home with Nathan.
When the fast food restaurants installed the play areas, we thought that would be an opportunity to get a quick bite and let Nate run off some steam. Well, sometimes that was a success, but usually those were the times that we were in the play area alone, so they were few and far between. The other times he would go charging up into the hamster like structures and another child or more than one would come down the slide terrorized, and maybe even crying. And they all started their distress by these words, “That boy in the green shirt”. I didn’t even have to try to remember what shirt Nate was wearing, I knew it was green.
The only thing that changed over the next few years was the color of his shirt.
