We’re officially at the start of summer! Here are 5 ideas to include in your summer plans for a fun and fulfilling season:
1.) Relax!
You don’t need to travel to reap the benefits of a summer vacation. So find what works for you. My favorite methods of relaxation are things I can do almost anywhere and don’t cost money such as meditation, stretching, walking my dog, sitting in the park, going to the beach, chatting with my best friend, etc. The key to relaxing is allowing yourself the time to do it, and realizing that you deserve it!
2.) Try something new!
What fun thing have you wanted to try but you keep putting off? Taking up a new hobby, making new friends, finding a new weekend getaway, etc. Make it your goal by the end of August to have added something new to your repertoire!
3.) Get some FUN exercise!
It is great to have physical fitness goals like losing weight or shaving time off your 5k, and you should definitely stick to it. However, summer brings a host of fun activities you can take advantage of such as swimming, Frisbee, outdoor team sports, an evening stroll and more. Get out and get some fresh air everyday, and remember – a fun activity should bring a smile to your face, not a grin!
4.) Read a damn book!
Sounds cliché – but summer is also for reading and the beginning of the season usually offers a great new selection of books. I always like to take a mental vacation with the latest chick-lit book but it’s a great time to catch up on history books, educational material, political/current events or whatever interests you.
5.) Do something for yourself!
Whether it’s self-improvement or just making yourself happy – find one thing that is all about you and then go with it. For example, one of my clients usually experiences a decrease in business for the summer, so this summer she is dedicating the slow period to improving a business skill. This way, she will be even more at the top of her game when fall comes around and business is back in full swing. This is something that is meaningful to her, but perhaps your ‘something’ is recreational, cosmetic, social, etc. My ‘something’ will be to take a breather every once in a while and hopefully find just a small bit of peace after I welcome my newborn next month! Just do one thing that is all about you!
I hope everyone has a great summer! And don’t forget to take advantage of my June special – $99 for a 60-minute ‘problem-solving’ session!
