How often do you congratulate yourself for a job well done? It could be anything: making a nice meal, checking off a task on your to-do list, getting through the day without killing your kids, eating only three (ok, maybe four) Oreos instead of the whole pack…
A day doesn’t go by without a host of opportunities to give yourself a high-five. Yet, so often, we skip the acknowledgement and, worse, berate ourselves for not being more and doing more. If you’re like me, though, you effortlessly give props to people in your life, letting them know how proud you are of their accomplishments. Not only does that make them feel good but also it makes you feel good! So why not double-up the feel-goodness by giving the same recognition to yourself?
Simple Solution: High-Five Yourself
The next time you complete or accomplish something—no matter how big or small—pause and say, “Nice job!” The more mindful you are of your successes, the better you’ll feel and the more confident you’ll become in leading a life you love.
