The secrets to gaining confidence in your new role

Quieting those nagging voices that impact our confidence
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how to grow and go beyond what you think you’re capable of and the stories you tell yourself about your limitations. What’s interesting is that, the more you talk to people around you, the more you realize that the majority of us struggle with the same things and we are more alike then we are different.
For the most part, we all have those voices in our heads setting the stage, giving us the reasons why we can’t do that because we’ll be judged, or humiliated or alienated or fall flat on our faces. Where does that voice come from? Does it matter? For now, the voices that restrict or at least define what we can and cannot be seem to me to be present and difficult to quiet down but what does help is the understanding that we are all the same. We all have those voices, some loud, some quiet, some that make you hesitate before you step and some that are debilitating.
What is clear is that those voices made there way inside our heads very early on, with our younger selves and that for some, no matter how much you can ‘sit outside yourself’ and hear those voices, they seem to limit our future or as least define its parameters.
Know this, we all are thinking the same things. Maybe the topics of the conversations inside our heads are different. Some might be about your lack of effectiveness because we’re weak, or too short or too tall or too fat or too small, but all of us, not matter the topic, live in some way, with these limiting beliefs.
I love these ‘soulpancake’ videos where one of the women says, “everyone has a blind spot”. Isn’t that comforting. We all share how exhausting it is to continue those demeaning and sometimes devastating conversations with ourselves. So if we all have that blind spot, then we all must have the light inside. We can easily see it in others, so why not see it in ourselves!
Natalie Patterson, in the spoken word at the end of the video says “align your actions with your intention and what your life become as bright as sunset. I dare you!”
