We are all connected

As we become aware of how the beautiful parts are connected to each other in order to form the awe inspiring whole , we tap into the strength within.
One sees instances wherein people are teased or mocked just because they are different. It could be because one is fat, skinny, dark, tall, short – anything that is a little different from the others around that person.
On the other hand, when we look around we can see how important it is to appreciate rather than look down on upon someone who is different. A few days ago, I read that at around 170 million year ago, there were no flowers. The first flowers appeared in the Cretaceous period around 125 million years ago. It made me think that when the first flowers appeared, did some of the creatures at that time look at them as weird just because they were different from what was around? When one looks at evolution, one notices so many new things appear as time goes on. Initially, some may look at them as strange, some may even mock them for being different but slowly, the “different” becomes the “new normal”. Being different is just what it is i.e. “different” – not good or bad. What makes it a reason for someone to tease someone else is the way it is perceived and we can always change our perception.
When one decides to look at the bigger picture of it all, it becomes so easy to be at ease with “different”. Looking at the big picture also helps in taking your power back, in your mind, when at the receiving end of barbs or comments. It helps in reconnecting to the strength within.
Not just evolution but there are so many things about our existence, about the world and about the universe which form the bigger picture. The fact that the same energy which has created the universe throbs through you and me, the fact that the earth is “just hanging” in space, the fact that the earth has been revolving and rotating in close proximity to other planets with precision, the fact that your cells have infinite intelligence flowing through them and know what to do, the fact that we start off as few cells and then each cell knows what it has to do – which one becomes the eyeball and which one becomes the nail, the fact that our blood flows throughout our body without anyone telling it to. There so many things which we are not aware of on a day-to-day basis but if we take a moment to think about them, it can be so awe inspiring. It can actually change the way we perceive life. When the wholeness of it all starts sinking in, it can be deeply moving.
