Spring cleaning shouldn't be limited to your physical environment. It's time to clean out the clutter in your mind too!
It’s spring! Time to clean out the cobwebs and get rid of the clutter, but spring cleaning doesn’t need to be limited to physical cleaning. Take this opportunity to clear out the clutter in your mind and clean out beliefs and thought patterns that are no longer serving you.
Tolerations
What are you tolerating? Tolerations can be things, people, situations, or circumstances that create tension and frustration. They distract you from what is important and drain your energy. So, what can you do about tolerations? First, you must identify them. Make a list of tolerations. For example, is that squeaky door or dripping faucet driving you nuts? Are you tolerating a gossiping friend or someone who doesn’t pull their own weight? What about clutter, disorganization, or bad habits?
As you identify your tolerations, take note of any patterns or themes. What are the common denominators? Is there one thing in your life that generates multiple tolerations? For example, are the unfinished projects, feelings of overwhelm, and clutter the result of poor time management skills? Are you tolerating the bad behavior of others because you have unclear or unprotected personal boundaries?
Once you have identified the source of your tolerations, consider what you can do to take care of these issues. What can you do to replace negative energy or thinking with positive energy? As you begin to eliminate tolerations from your life, take note of how it affects your energy and your outlook.
