Not everything has to be done right now—or even this week for that matter! Often times, as moms, we get hung up on doing mundane things every single day, which really could be done once a week, or once a month. And often times, we assign so much significance to these insignificant things, that we feel stress, a lack of fulfillment, or failure, when they are not accomplished.
Here are just a few examples:
- Making sure the house is clean (or mopped/swept/vacuumed) everyday
- Preparing a meal EVERY night
- Attending EVERY PTA meeting, outing, fellowship
- Making sure the dishes are washed everyday
- Etc.
Sure, these are good things, but they AREN’T a MUST. Especially if they cause you frustration or dissatisfaction if they’re not completed. As moms, it’s important that we don’t “should” ourselves so much. DETERMINE what’s truly important. PRIORITIZE those things, and do your best to make sure they are accomplished. For the things that aren’t, RELEASE the significance that you’ve assigned to them (whether that pressure came from your upbringing, your peers, or the media). DECIDE what’s central for YOUR family. Then
LIVE MORE, LAUGH MORE, AND ENJOY MOTHERHOOD!
