Being Present

When you practice being present, your body begins to heal, you mentally feel better, and you become aligned with your desires! Here are 5 simple tips!
Have you ever heard that it’s good to be present or wondered what it means to be present?
When I think about being present, I think about objectively paying attention to what is going on in the immediate environment around me. This is a great action to take because when you are neutrally observing, you are automatically putting yourself into a place of allowing because you aren’t offering any resistance! When you are allowing, your body begins to heal, you mentally feel better, well-being flows to you, and you become aligned with your desires! There are many other benefits, but just these few were enough to make me want to practice being present more often, but when I first tried to intentionally become present, I ended up spending my time wondering if I was present and then drifting into thinking about the past and/or the future (this still often happens when I meditate). If you find yourself having a hard time with being present, these 5 quick and simple methods will help you to get in the moment easily and effortlessly!
Within 1 minute, find as many things as you can in your environment that are the same color
Count how many different sounds you can hear within 1 minute
Notice how many of the five elements of taste perception (salty, sour, bitter, sweet, and savory) are present in one bite of food
Feel as many different textures as you can within 1 minute
Smell as many different things as you can within 1 minute
Remember to stay objective… no opinions… just factual observations!*
Yes, each of these processes involves one of the 5 senses, but that’s what makes it so simple! We use these senses everyday to inform us about the world around us, so why not use them to become present?!?! If you can quiet the mind, that’s awesome, but if you aren’t having success with that, these quick tips can help you allow and align instantly!
