Lost in the Land of Business Chaos?

In the daily challenges of growing a business, we often lose touch with our goals, what our motivation is built on, even our core values. Then what?
Often, in the daily challenges of running a business, we lose touch with what our goals are, what our motivation is built on, even our core values. The fire hose of responsibilities, expectations, timelines, metrics, conflicts, unforeseen hurdles, shifting demographics and changing markets can derail the best laid action plans. The day’s major achievement might simply be: “I got through it!” Sure, some days are going to be like that. But only at great peril can most days be like that.
You’ve heard it said that often the best proactive step you can take in business is to stop doing something you’re doing, instead of trying to start a new thing.
OK. And…before that can happen, it is very helpful to stop everything you’re doing, find a quiet place where you’ll not be bothered, turn off your devices and ask yourself, “What is important about success… to me?”
How you answer the question is totally yours. Whether success—for you—means independence, wealth, influence, prestige, freedom, making a difference, being a change agent, or something else, it is your meaning. Yours. As it should be.
But when was the last time you asked yourself this question? For many people, they haven’t thought about what’s important about success to them for many years. Maybe ever. If you have thought about it before, great! If not, or if it’s been a long time, do it now. Yep, right now. We’ll wait.
Hi, there! Welcome back.
The next question is, of course, “How are you doing?” Are you making progress? Is it consistent? Do you sometimes suffer from SOS (shiny object syndrome)? Are other people’s agendas hijacking yours?
Success is up to you. Circumstances can mess with your plan, that is absolutely true. Still, don’t let go of what’s important to you. Go back and find your core values, if they got lost along the path of your life. Get reacquainted with your goals. And believe that what you have to bring is important to the world around you. Because it’s true.
So, bring it.
Your contribution matters.
Find your path…
