A Holistic Wellness Approach Finds Success In Life Coaching Teens

Wellness is maintained as a lifestyle by teens who place value on lifestyle choices integrated with a positive growth mindset, and self development.
I believe that holistic wellness is successfully achieved, and maintained as a lifestyle by those who have developed a certain positive mindset, and who place a certain amount of value on positive lifestyle choices integrated with growth and self development.
Most people have, what I call, a fixed mindset. They believe that their ability to be healthy or not is just a given. For ex. “My mother was overweight, my grandmother was overweight, therefore, I am overweight. Thus we hear, “I am overweight because it runs in the family”. This type of mindset and perspective creates failure, loss of control, and unhealthy lifestyle choices especially among kids and teens. Unfortunately, this mentality can be passed down from parent to child, and verbally reinforced by the family.
The child or teen who has this mindset will believe that they have a certain amount of brains and talent, health, fitness, and energy and nothing can change that. If they are unhappy with conditions they feel that they are predispositioned to such as their body shape, weight, health (allergies, asthma, eczema) etc. this can cause mental stress, and frustration, especially if they are being teased, bullied, compared to others, and / or unsuccessful with attempts to change or control that aspect of themselves.
Kids with this mindset will temporarily attempt to change something (weight, health, etc) but If it is too hard, they will usually quit, and/ or seek out unhealthy ways to “be in control”, since they typically feel out of control and frustrated with themselves. When it comes to weight loss, kids and teens with this mindset tend to be unsuccessful in losing weight /keeping it off, or controlling their eating habits. They may use unhealthy restrictive methods to maintain or lose weight and yo yo diet.
On the contrary, those who live a more balanced and holistic lifestyle have developed a “growth mindset”. To them, all things are not fixed. Self development, exploration, learning, and setting proper goals helps them achieve wellness mentally, physically, and spiritually. People who successfully live a holistic lifestyle (body, mind, spirit) share a common mindset, and place value on positive lifestyle choices. They see their qualities (health, energy, vitality, skills, etc) as things that can be enhanced and developed through dedication and effort. They understand that no one has ever accomplished great things or overcome personal challenges and failures without having a definite passionate purpose, practice, and learning. They are visionaries, they see the past, present, and future. They learn from their past (habits, challenges, failures, ect.), they are presently developing and setting goals, and they see what it could be like and what they can feel like in the future. What they see in the future is what presently creates motivation and productivity to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and make positive lifestyle choices.
From this perspective, it would make sense to apply the principle and holistic approach of mental transformation, from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, to help children and teens obtain wellness (physically, mentally, spiritually). Inspiring and motivating youth to develop this type of positive mindset and see life from a visionary perspective, will help create motivation and productivity, as well as give them a huge advantage in not only having better physical health and wellness, but also psychologically, and thus have a greater chance at maintaining a healthy lifestyle, balanced energy, and a life of vitality through adulthood.
