Globalizing your business can help you to reach out to more customers more than ever.
In order for any business to reach customers internationally, it is pertinent that owners and leaders of organizations adapt to a multinational diversification strategy. According to an article in the USA Today by Edward Iwata, “In past years, many U.S. companies lost their way in a business Babel, where international work forces are as likely to speak Spanish, Hindi or Mandarin as they do English.”
Today, though, as more multinationals race into the global economy, they’re tailoring their diversity policies and practices to the new cultural and business order to a greater degree than ever before." In order for organizations to be able to function in their businesses from an international perspective diversification will play a key role.
Most individuals in organization take pride in their roots and traditions that they have become accustomed to their own environments, in which limits their potential access to the global market. When having to perform business with other nationalities, business owners often have to lose their pride to adapt to other cultures and norms to achieve a successful outcome of selling products and services.
Iwata also disclosed some important details to look at when considering global diversification in an organization:
Iwata coined “Going native” as organizations taking time to establish relationships with locals and partners to gain trust before embarking on the introductions of products and services. He also indicated that “Recognizing religious differences” by hiring a diverse group of individuals from various religions backgrounds would be an asset to diversifying an organization. Iwata stated that “Cross-border networking” or “affinity groups” would be a good addition to maintaining inclusive social networks for employees or business owners that may feel as outcast to society. It is inevitable that organizations seek to “Finding global talent” as disclosed by Iwata.
Multinationals require a diversified pool of employees in order to reach their maximum potential in performing business internationally.
