In a rut ? It’s time to make a change! Ruts happen to us all every once in a while, it’s like hitting a fitness plateau, sometimes we don’t know it til the denial wears down and our ut oh, better make a change realization takes hold . The same holds true for business, when sales are up employees tend to be more productive but when business is down it branches into the other areas of our life where the well-being of self and the people we care about decompensates. In June’s More.com the women surveyed, shared the top ten things you want to change in your life, from business to relationship ruts. Take inventory and determine what might need to change to bust that rut for good! It may just be time to step out of your comfort zone.

Changing and expanding outside of your comfort zone launches you into growth zone, which can be scary at first, just like the first time I ever tried to rock climb, I was a little kid at the fair with a fear of heights and two sweaty palms. And the first time I ever went backpacking, I was cold and hungry and wished my Mom was there to make it all better. Or the first time I ever picked up a football, I knew I would make a complete fool of myself trying to throw it with any accuracy. Then there was first time I ever went surfing. I fell off the board more times than I could count before I could ride that little half-wave to the shore. And the first time I did a sales presentation early in my career at a business meeting, in front of the entire sales force, my thoughts were going a thousand miles a minute.
Growth leads to change and change leads to improvement and then the magic happens. Many, many years later, I have climbed rock faces that overlook endless miles of beautiful mountains and oceans; I have led outdoor groups on backpacking trips and made them feel safer than I did my first time; I can throw the football with a successful spiral; I have ridden full-sized waves and watched my dad cheer me on from the shore. And I have presented and taught to hundreds of business professionals. No matter how talented you may be, it’s hard to be good at something the first time you do it. And no matter how good you are at something, there is always room for improvement. As Zig Zigler once said, “Your attitude, not your aptitude will determine your altitude.”
Don’t worry about trying to be perfect at something or setting goals that are unrealistic – just simply set an intention, take steps toward change and take pride in it! Most importantly, don’t be afraid to take a risk, because the things that seem scariest at first can also be the most rewarding. So what’s on your bucket list? Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but leaned on excuses of no money, not wanting to do it alone or simply punked out ? Be bold, be courageous, ask for that raise, learn a new language, rent that Tuscan villa, test drive your dream car, learn a new language , say hi to that cute guy at the driving range or relocate to what fits your vision.
Do something that scares you. Do something you know you will be proud of when you accomplish it. Use each day to get closer to your goals, and set ones that challenge you. Make it so that you can look back and know you have lived your life to the fullest.
Don’t allow another year to go by to begin to get happy taking steps toward having a blast and living a better life! You deserve to have a stellar life, career, business , relationships. The choice to want it has to happen and this is up to you.
