Describes a Holistic Coach, and what more she brings to Coaching? The techniques of an Holistic Coach enhances general coaching.
‘A coach is a trained professional who has the skills that help individuals, executives and organizations create positive changes, see new possibilities, and help their clients define the steps to be taken to achieve both their short and long term goals.’
(Certified Coach Federation)
Definition of Holistic
Holistic comes from the word ‘ho lism – that living nature is seen in terms of interacting wholes.Holistic is thus concerned with wholes or complete systems interacting than dissecting it into parts.” (Webster Dictionary) Example: – instead of working on just the physical body as is what is done in modern medicine, in holistic health, body, mind and spirit are looked as a whole when treating a person’s ailments.
My definition of a Holistic Coach is as follows…
An Holistic Coach is a trained professional who uses her or his skills to empower individuals, executives and organization by working on the physical, psycho-social, emotional and spiritual elements as a fusion, so that they can create the unique changes and see the possibilities and direction in achieving their goals.
Why Holistic Coaching?
It was a natural evolution from when I worked in the Health Field, I started out where, the physical was separated from the psychological, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of a person. The traditional approach to Medicine is a cookie cutter approach. Then critical life threatening issue or issues, made me realize that in order to survive I had to change to an holistic approach. And it worked. So that is why in coaching, an Holistic approach is the most effective way to go.
How is my Holistic Coaching Done?
After receiving all the details that the clients divulge, I use my physical assessment skills, as well as my coaching skills which include a variety of processes which will be described in another article. The first module is the Discovery Module. The client participates fully.
Then in the second or third coaching session, I will work on the mental and emotional plane of my client, by using EFT or Faster EFT, to pinpoint mental and emotional triggers to the client’s issues. This is a clearing module. Clearing blockages and other unnecessary baggage impeding the client’s journey to success. Client participation required
In further sessions, the spiritual planes will be addressed through Self-Forgiveness module as well as the Gratitude module, the Relaxation and Meditation module. Again Client will fully participate.
Client participation is required in Holistic Coaching as it is in General Coaching, however, the major difference is that client’s unwanted baggages will fall away at a faster rate and be more complete. Many have told me they felt more free than they have ever felt before. So will that affect their success rate. What do you think?
