Navigating the Midlife Abyss? I'm Making My Way Through and So Can You.

Navigating the midlife shift and feel like you're ready for a makeover? This can be the best chapter of your life yet. It's yours to create!
I just celebrated a significant Birthday and time in my life. I’ve most likely made it over the midlife hump and will be rolling down the hill on the other side soon. I have a choice in how I respond. I can “despise my youth” and wish that I could turn back the clock or I can embrace where I’m at and celebrate the life experiences I’ve had so far and look forward to those to come. Seems like a pretty easy choice, doesn’t it?
I believe we create our life experience daily and choose to be at peace or fight life on the battle lines. I’ve put my weapons away for sometime and have enjoyed letting life flow beautifully. I believe it’s called “acceptance”. That doesn’t mean letting yourself go to hell. It means taking a look at the things that are and deciding to either let them be or do what you can to change them. Many times I found myself sitting in limbo with my weapons drawn. Who was the enemy? She was looking at me in the mirror.
If you’re a woman of a certain age, you know that your body goes through a shift with each decade. It’s subtle at first, and then one day you wake up to a version of yourself that takes getting some used to. Hormones change, hair disappears or grows in places you not thought possible, the pounds don’t seem to go away as easily and the get up and go sometimes requires a jumpstart.
A couple of years ago, my hormones made a sharp shift which began to morph my body and myself into someone unfamiliar. I was desperate to find answers and women who were experiencing or had experienced the same thing. There are zillions of us that go through this, right? I kept coming up empty handed and took matters into my own hands.
Based on my experience and in celebrating making it through with my sanity in tact and a body, mind and spirit that transformed beautifully given the despair I was once in, I decided that I wanted to empower and support women going through the same thing. In fact, I decided to build a business that does just that.
What wisdom do I have to impart?
I learned how to make peace with my hormones while also making myself comfortable through the transition with changes in my diet, lifestyle and attitude.
I lost over 30 pounds by accepting that what I had always done in the past wasn’t working anymore and finding what did work.
I learned to love my body and challenged myself physically to reveal muscle tone and a svelte shape that was hidden underneath the layers.
I found my “vavoom” again by embracing my powerfully feminine self and realizing there was a Goddess waiting to emerge.
I learned how to look at myself and life through a different lens, building my confidence and coming to the startling realization that I am responsible for my life experience and attitude. An empowering and life-altering exercise.
I let go of my ideas and expectations of what relationships should be and consequently let go of those who no longer serve who I am. I threw away “the list” once and for all and live life for the experience, taking the pressure off of myself and others to be a certain way. I believe it’s called unconditional love, starting with myself.
I’d love to work with you on your journey and help you navigate your way through the abyss.
