What is Intuitive Business Coaching and is it right for me? Your questions answered with Intuitive Business Coach Nicole Kimmick.
Q. Describe what it is without using the word “intuitive”
A. You’ve heard terms like “gut instincts,” “vibes” “or sixth sense” used to describe that feeling that everyone has experienced. I like to describe it as an inner knowing or awareness of the answer to a problem or the direction you should take without much thought or effort.
Q. Why is it important?
A. Developing this skill allows you to trust yourself and rely on your own instincts, which helps you reclaim your power and reduce fear and anxiety in your job and life. Many people look back in their life and say, “If I had only done…” or “I would do this if I had to do it over again.” That information was always available to them and if they had trusted this information, their lives may more closely resemble what they really wanted instead of what they settled for.
Q. Who usually uses this method?
A. Everyone can improve their intuition like any skill or talent, and it can be done much easier than they might realize. It takes time and practice, but the outcome is well worth it. I’ve heard and read many interviews over the years with successful CEO and leaders. One of the questions most asked is what the biggest contributing factor to their success is, and almost always the answer is that they listened to their gut instinct or intuition.
Q. Can you give an example of a decision you’ve made with this method?
A. Being a marketing executive, I had the power to make a lot of decisions, but there were some decisions that were out of my hands. I have been in several situations where I had bosses that I knew were making the wrong decisions, I advised them on what I thought were the right decisions and what the possible outcome might be. Many times my bosses didn’t listen to my advice, however several months down the road it came to light that my “instincts” were the right ones.
Q. Can you share a technique readers could begin using today?
A. Yes, the first step is to believe that you have the ability to tap into your intuition and set the intention that you are going to learn how to use it more. Our thoughts create everything in our lives. But, it’s not enough just to think something, you really have to believe it. If you set the intention that you are going to start trusting and using your intuition, then your actions will support those thoughts.
Start to become more aware of you physical feelings in situations. Have a notebook with you at work. Write down all the feelings, hunches or inspirations you get when they come up, sometimes out of the blue. Don’t edit them or second guess them. Even if you choose not to follow them, write down what you feel. In a couple of weeks, you will be able to see what direction your intuition was taking you. The more you write down, the more frequent and fine-tuned your “gut feelings” will become. With real commitment, you can see results in as little as two weeks!
