Stress and overwhelm can lead to exhaustion in even the most driven of us. Find out how to heal your body with my top 5 wellness tips!
Have you been in prime hustle mode for weeks on end with your
“wheels on fire and rolling down the road”,
but have recently hit a wall and are feeling more like
“notify my next of kin, this wheel shall explode”?
It happens to the best of us. Whether you are bulldozing through daily exercise, working around the clock to build your dream business or climb the corporate ladder (or both!), or striving to be the most enviously posh mom on the block, your body may be ready for a recharge.
If you have symptoms such as severe tiredness, muscle aches, dry eyes and back pain, it could be exhaustion also known as adrenal fatigue.
Chronic stress can overwhelm your adrenal glads, causing them to function poorly. You must take extra TLC of your adrenals. Heavy makeup and chichi blowout will not keep you looking stellar if you are teetering off your stillettos from exhaustion!
Here are my top tips for healing your adrenals with Extreme Self Care to get you feeling Absolutely Fabulous once again:
Pink Himalayan Sea Salt. Trust me on this one. If there is ONE trick that will bring you back from the undead, this is it. When our adrenals function poorly, we lose sodium. Normal salt can be dehydrating, but Pink Himalayan Sea Salt actually hydrates the body. (If you have hypertention or high blood pressure, do not try this.)
The magic formula is this:
1/4 teaspoon ground PHSS in 1 Liter of water upon waking.
Do this twice a day for two days, then once per day until symptoms subside.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Aim for 8-10 tall glasses of filtered or spring water.
(I wear size 61/2 in Loubs if you want to thank me later. And you will!)
Unwind + Sleep. There is only so long you can burn the candle at both ends and not experience diminishing returns, my dear. Nothing can replace sleep for recharging your frazzled nerves.
5pm – Power down your laptop and get off of Facebook, Twitter or your social media crack of choice.
6pm – Eat and ENJOY a leisurely home cooked meal.
8-10pm – Turn down the lights, unwind with herbal tea and a relaxing book. Even better, connect with a friend or your honey (I’m sure he would love to tear you away from your work!)
10pm – All lights out, including any lights from electroncs. Make the room comfortably cool. Natural sleep aids such as Valerian root or Melatonin can be helpful.
Balance Blood Sugar. Blood sugar spikes can be especially harmful to people suffering from adrenal fatigue. Do your body a favor and eat a healthy, clean diet with low glycemic foods.
Eliminate caffeine, sugar, white bread and white pasta. Avoid fruits in the morning. Eat lots of green and other colorful veggies. Limit grains, but choose whole grains products such as brown rice and quinoa. Base your diet on good quality proteins from animal (meat, chicken, fish, eggs) and/or plant (legumes, nuts and seeds) sources.Practice Active Rest. If you are constantly exhausted and unable to relax, your body is telling you something. It’s time to listen. Top competitive atheletes know that rest is extremely important for the body to recover to continue to perform at its peak. Total relaxation is best for fatigue but if you must continue to workout, then turn it down every third day. Go for a 30-45 minute walk with a friend, a leisurely bike ride or take a restorative yoga class. Let those muscles rest + rebuild.
Meditate. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Sit on a cushion or comfortable chair. Close your eyes. Take 3 deep breaths. Empty your mind for 10 minutes. Then open your eyes. SHINE.
Et voila! Take time out to practice Extreme Self Care and soon you can return to your status as Gladitor Goddess running your fabulous Empire while the competition eats your dust. As per usual.
