Go with the Flow

How mosquitoes don't get squished by rain drops.
In the NYTimes and on NPR yesterday, there were articles about a new study out of the Georgia Institute of Technology on mosquitoes and rain. According to the study, raindrops can weigh 50 times as much as a mosquito, and yet mosquitoes fly right through them. Curious. Apparently, mosquitoes “do not resist the impact of a water drop and instead ‘go with the flow’.” Or said another way, according to David Hu, the biologist/mechanical engineer who conducted the study, “It is kind of like boxing with a balloon. There is no way to pop the balloon because it doesn’t resist you at all.”
How about that?! What if we lived like that? What if I lived like that, instead of fighting with everyone and everything that goes on in my life? Sounds like an interesting ride.
