Good Times to Follow... if you let them...

Health,Life,
Today I found myself in the position of telling a harrowing story of an event in my life that I have only shared with a handful of people. In the past when told the tale the sadness and and pain on my listeners faces, I could not bear to cause them this pain even though it was my truth. I end the conversation as soon as I see it hurts them too much… then well then there is that awkward fumbling of niceties… IF you need to talk I am here ( they couldn’t handle it, why would I do that to someone I care about) Or worse the silence… the awkward silence the deafening silence the sadness that is in their eyes.I feel like this changed me in their eyes, forever I am somehow different in their eyes. However today when I told the event in my life I got a response that I have never had before, one of empathy without pity not only was I able to unburden myself I was able to move on past it and tell what happened after the tears. You must remember that Life goes on after the tears, if not that you aren’t really living you are merely existing. When I then talked about the time to follow… a really good time that followed this the event took a back seat… the smiles came easy and we talked about how nice it was to have had that great time.
I then realized that this is the way that I have many of the less than happy stories that make up my life, with that fact the I " Pressed on" and had good time to follow. My daughter has a life altering disease and we have been to hell and back…. and guess what she is about to Graduate from The Art Institute of Charleston.
Good Times To Follow… We refused to let RSD define her, She will Define herself…
Cheers to your sad stories yet continue past the tears… Good Time to Follow…
