Courage will always bring fear into perspective
If you know me, inspiration is what makes me thrive. I am always inspired when I work with clients who are willing to look at the hard facts of life, take inventory, and when they are determined to make the positive changes that are necessary. The reality is that if you aren’t fully engaging in making your life and all that it is meant to be, you are wasting very precious time. When you only have one life to live, why not live it well and really enjoy it! Your aliveness is contagious and it infects the world around you.
I want to tell you a story about Sara, whose name I have changed for obvious reasons, who is bringing a smile to my face these days. Sara came to see me at a time when she recognized that she had to change her life and that working at a demanding, unfulfilling job was meaningless and empty. The company that she worked for had lost their way becoming unconscious about the importance of values and this created a culture that was not relational. It was unappreciative and negative.
Sara had faced some health challenges a year previous that had drastically altered her life. This was a wake up call that left a mark. She recognized how precious life was and that having fulfillment every day truly matters. A life of meaning and purpose was important to her and this is what she wanted to make her consistent reality. Deciding to take action, she courageously quit her job, started exploring the options and hired me as her coach.
When we were able to defined Sara’s personal values, the lights came on, and it was very clear to Sara what she needed to do. She learned she was holding back and stalling her life because she was thinking too much about the “what if” fears. She had to find the confidence to believe in her self at a whole new level, and not let fear hold her back from doing what she most wanted to do. Belief and courage was what was needed and this meant addressing some of the issues that were plaguing her. She got deliberate about going after her dreams personally and professionally, she found her voice and she stepped into the driver’s seat of owning her life.
There is a saying that my clients often hear me quote, “The truth is not the problem, the problem is the problem.” This is relevant to this story because unless we are truthful to explore what is really going on in our lives and know what we really want, we might be missing out on the best part of life and not even know it. Unless we open our minds, and are truthful about our present reality, we might never know what our greatest potential can be. Anything is possible if you explore it—- so get curious. Think outside of your box!
When Sara was able to be truthful with the issues she was facing and when she made the commitment to take action even though it was difficult, she was able to make the necessary changes that are now impacting her life in a powerful way. She is attracting a whole new world, this is becoming her new way of being and she feels very much alive!
I am reminded of a powerful quote from the book “Good to Great” by Jim Collins about how to build an extraordinary life. One of the courageous steps to greatness is, “You must maintain unwavering faith that you can and will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties, AND at the same time – have the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”
If you want a life of greatness you must have faith, prevail and confront your current reality. There is no way around it.
DO YOU WANT AN EXTRA ORDINARY LIFE?
If so here are some courageous questions for you to explore:
How willing are you to be truthful and honest in your life?
Will you find the courage within you to confront the obstacles that are holding you back from achieving what you most want?
Are you willing to take 100% responsibility to create the life you desire?
Wake up the courage that is within you, confront your fear and take action.
Remember 20 seconds of courage is all you need to take a leap of faith which just might open doors to endless possibilities.
DARE TO DREAM AND MAKE YOUR LIFE HAPPEN!
