Recovering From Challenges

Recovering from challenges is necessary in moving forward.
Recovering from challenges is not only possible, it’s necessary in moving forward. You can become the best YOU and leave a legacy you can be proud of. If you’re thinking, “But you don’t know what I’ve been through”, consider some of my testimony.
I’ve had my share of challenges, insecurities, disappointments, fears and losses in my life. From the loss of my brother in a tragic accident, to living with congenital heart disease and almost dying numerous times, only to find out my child also inherited it. Both my daughter and I have required regular medical attention, pacemaker surgeries and lengthy recoveries.
Furthermore, my husband needed me to care for him after several heart attacks, and a quintuple bypass a few years ago. We’ve had failed business ventures, job loss, financial struggles and strained relationships that left us exhausted and emotionally drained. With these came seasons of depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder, which were very difficult times.
Thankfully there was a light at the end of it all. I’m much happier, I now have peace, fulfillment and genuine joy. The turmoil, though overwhelming, was temporary. I have become more grateful for each day and know what’s really important in life. I know what I’m made of, who I really am. How this happened was surprising to me because from my perception life was happening to me without my permission, but not so.
Those trials, though challenging, brought me to the end of myself where I had to learn to make better decisions to avoid more pain. It was a spiritual reality that no one could help me better than me, because no one knew me better than me. It’s been a journey of learning, growing, and understanding how to perceive for myself what my purpose was and how to function as a whole person in it.
In the process I lost much of my self centeredness, and became a bridge for helping other people overcome similar obstacles. More so, to adopt honest perspectives that would free them to be who they really are and find fulfillment in their lives.
