Influential Engagement

What does Influential Engagement Look Like?
In our roles as leaders, we often think that we don’t have time to be concerned with the tone we take with others. We’re all big boys and girls …right? We’re supposed to be able to take some tough talk, or some blunt conversations, arguing, orders…or whatever. Conflict is good …right? Just give it to them straight and to the point…we don’t have time for anything else!
It might work for Jim Harbaugh…but I suspect that it may not work for the rest of us.
For many leaders, conflict, authoritarianism, and even aggressiveness has led them to what looks like success. They have survived – and maybe even created what looks like a winning organization.
But at what cost? What has the aggression, conflict, fear, intimidation, pressing, stress, anger cost them and those around them?
The most successful leaders influence their own core thoughts, (positive self-management) as well as the core thoughts of others with whom they engage in a positive way. (Inspiration through Influential Engagement.)
The result of Influential Engagement is that people leave our conversations with thoughts like:
He hears me.
He understands me.
He values me.
He cares about me and respects me.
You have the choice to influence positively in every conversation you have with your team, colleagues, customers and organizational leadership.
Are you taking advantage of these opportunities?
