We tend to look at the glass as half empty instead of looking at it as half full.
We tend to look at the glass as half empty instead of looking at it as half full. The problem is that by focusing on the emptiness, we feel even emptier. When we focus on our problems, all we see is problems. If on the other hand, we focus on the part of our glass that is full; we get a sense of contentment. That sense of contentment it what give us the energy to fill our cup even more. In other words, it is important to have a positive outlook on situations. It doesn’t mean that we should ignore the difficulties and obstacles that will normally occur. But we shouldn’t focus on them. As Les Brown said, we should look at them as temporary inconveniences. When you think about it is very true. No problem or obstacle is ever permanent. Whatever we are going through is just a temporary inconvenience.
We also have to keep in mind that everything cannot be wrong at the same time. Yes we may have problems but we cannot only have problems. Not every single thing is negative even though it may seem as if it is; it is not. We can always find something positive if we chose to. And that is what we should focus on. We cannot always control the obstacles that come our way but we control what we chose to focus on. If we chose to focus on the positive, then the negative is not as relevant. These obstacles do not affect us as much anymore and we can keep on going!
So let’s not allow these temporary inconveniences to change our perception about how we see our glass. Yes things will not always be perfect, yes we will all face obstacles along the way but yes we can chose to always see our glass as half full and work our way to fill it up even more. It is important to be grateful for the little that we have while we seek for more. That way, when we get more we will appreciate it even better!
Contentment doesn’t mean that this is it, we are content with where we are at right now and we don’t need to do anything else. It doesn’t mean that were should just settle. We should always strive not necessarily for more but for better.
Have a blessed and filled day!
