Learn how to deal with negativity. Negative people, situations and events will happen, but you can turn that negative energy around.
Step 1
Anticipate that things will happen. The car might not start, repairs for electronics and household equipment will be needed, you may over sleep, taxes are due and people will get on your nerves. By anticipating simple and even complex needs you are better prepared to deal with them as they happen.
Step 2
Preparation, make plans for these anticipated events. This is a good reason to have insurance, tax agents or at least know where you can have taxes prepared. Have preventative maintenance done on the car and yourself. Yes, get those annual checkups they can help ward off trouble. You can also make time early in the AM before your day starts to meditate, read devotions, pray or be quiet and still. By doing these things it helps to prepare your mind for the day ahead.
It doesn’t always take a lot of time to begin preparing; you just have to take time to put the plans in place. Just 15 minutes here and there of preparation can save you hours of stress and anxiety.
Step 3
Prioritize your plans by order of importance. This helps relieve stress and manage time because you have a clear agenda of what you need to do. There is nothing like having a picture there to help organize your thoughts.
Do the things that are most important first. Anything that didn’t get finished is moved to the to do list for the next day. Be sure to set realistic goals when prioritizing.
It’s better to have three things on your to do list and complete them feeling accomplished, competent and happy. Versus six things and you don’t complete your list which can leave you feeling inadequate and more stressed about the next day.
Step 4
Do it with a positive mindset
Proverbs 23:7 “for as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”
Just as they say you are what you eat, you are what you think as well. When you feel like, “Oh it takes too much time to plan for the future or the what ifs” then you my friend have a negative mindset. The amount of time you will spend stressing out when the inevitable happens can be lessened if not avoided just by taking the simple steps above.
Life takes planning and you can get support and help to make the process easier. Resources like the Internet, library, how to books and Coaching address these issues and help make life a little bit easier.
Now get to it, good luck!
