Books That Can Change Your Life

I've had a wonderfully diverse and interesting life, largely because of these self-help books:
Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban BreatnachYou Can Heal Your Life by Louise M. Hay
The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck
The Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman
The bottom line of each of these life changing books is similar. You can change your life if you are willing to overcome your fears and take action toward your goal. These books will influence your life too, if you are willing to do the work they suggest.
Simple Abundance, a Daybook of Comfort and Joy, is a daily workbook designed to help you make your dreams come true. There is a daily exercise for each day of a year designed to help you feel prosperous and deserving of change. Ms. Breatnach has developed several tools besides this book to further assist you in your journey.
You Can Heal Your Life author, Louise Hay, also has developed many tools and workbooks to assist the reader to identify their demons and reconstruct negative ideas to positive ones that will allow you to change your life.
Scott Peck has written several books, but only this one resonated for me. The Road Less Traveled was written in 1978. Its description is “a new psychology of love, traditional values and spiritual growth.” His philosophy is no longer new, but is recognized as a powerful ideology in today’s Positive Psychology.
The Course in Miracles is a non-denominational spiritual book that deals with how to overcome fear and create peaceful solutions to your challenges. It was written by two staff members of Berklee’s Psychology Dept. to answer the question of how people can get along. Ms. Schucman channeled Jesus to arrive at the answer. Because it was an academic project, the book was written in three volumes that are now published as one book: A daily exercise, a teacher’s guide, and the text. Ms. Schucman and her partner gave the rights to the book to the Foundation for Inner Peace.
What all these books have in common is that you must first learn to be deserving of a better life. You must then overcome negativity. Form a plan and execute it, all the while reinforcing the messages you have learned so that you will stay on your road to success. They all have a spiritual element as well which rewards good intentions.
Because these books influenced my life, I have had a school of dance and drama, a theater company, an insurance agency, and a coaching career. I had a marriage of twenty-two years and adjusted to a happy life as a divorced woman. I look forward to passing this knowledge on to my clients so they can also choose their life.
