Five Tips for BEcoming a human BEing and not a human doing!
Our society has placed so much emphasis on human doing that many of us have forgotten what it means to be a human being. Are you a human being focusing on who you are and not what you are? Are you a human BEing living an incredibly fulfilled and successful, value-centered whole life? If not now, then when is the time to give yourself permission to stop thinking and doing and BE.
If you are like me, my recovery position is as a human doing and not a human BEing. The BEing muscle is a weak muscle for most of us and requires daily exercise. My goal for each of us is to build the BEing muscle, so this BEcomes our new recovery position. Image a life where human BEing is our natural state and human doing is the only place we visit every now and then? What is possible for us as individuals and communities from this place?
I have found that when I am BEing, spirituality is also a natural state. When I speak of spirituality, I mean spirituality in the sense of my powerful and mindful connection. What is mindful connectedness for you? How do you connect spiritually? For me, the outdoors is my place of mindful connection. In particular, BEing in the woods or gardening. I instantly can feel my BEing connection. BEing mindful of this connection allows me easy, regular, and immediate access to exercise and strengthen my BEing muscle. Through this awareness and regular exercise, I am BEcoming a stronger human BEing.
To assist you with exercising your BEing muscle, here are five tips I have gathered and used with incredible success with my coaching clients. With each of these tips, just BE and acknowledge what you find and discover within and outside your body,
• Talk a walk and BE open to what surrounds you. Take a curiosity walk! BE curious about what’s around the next corner. Listen, look, explore. Take a walk without headphones and conversations with others or inside your own head.
• Find a bench outside and in nature and BE silent. Give yourself permission to BE quiet and still. Allow yourself to feel the softness with your surroundings. BEcome part of your surroundings from your bench.
• Plant a garden and BE with the feeling of the soil in your hands. Feel the cool earth. Smell the mustiness of the turned over ground. Take in the beauty and colors of the flowers and plants. Allow all of your senses to come alive.
• Play a round of golf without BEing with the result. BE with the feel of your swing. BE with the course and your playing partners. BEcome curious about the nature surrounding you. Laugh and have fun.
• Spend time BEing mindful of your spirituality. Pray, meditate, sit quietly, or BE . In your silence, BE with your peace and calm. Allow the peace and calm to find its way through every muscle of your body.
And say YES, to exercising your BEing muscle at least once a day and BEcoming a human Being starting today!!
