Dead Sea vs. the Mississippi River

All of us have a calling and an ability to make a difference in the world around us. Come up with a plan for how you can impact those around you.
2 of the most famous bodies of water in the world are the Dead Sea and the Mississippi River. The Dead Sea is in Israel: the Jordan River leads into the Dead Sea, but there is no outlet for the water. So, the water is just left there to evaporate in the hot desert sun. When water evaporates, salt is left behind. The Dead Sea is famous for its extremely high salt content. Nothing grows because of the sea: it promotes no life and makes no contribution to the world.
If God were to snap his fingers and remove the Dead Sea from the face of the earth, life wouldn’t skip a beat.
The Mississippi River is an entirely different story. The river begins in Minnesota and winds its way down through the heart of America and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The Mighty Mississippi takes water to many farms and helps provide water for the crops that feed millions of people. If God snapped his fingers and removed the river from our planet, there would be massive famine!
One body of water that gives no nourishment, one body of water that provides life for millions. The question: Which one are you?
You see, we all have a calling to have a positive impact on those around us. Too many people are like the Dead Sea: Taking in the wisdom and help of others, but doing nothing to help or grow the world around them. I believe all of us have a calling to be more like the Mississippi River: to not only take in wisdom and help, but to also impact and serve those around us. Are you more like the Dead Sea or the Mississippi River? What are you doing to serve the world around you?
Let’s look at your gifts, passions, and expertise. You have a calling to make a difference in the people in your world. What will you do to make this difference? Contact me and we’ll make a plan!!
