Longings

Tips and exercises for training the brain to boost emotional connections and become ALIVE
The heart knows what it knows. It’s makes things simple. Our minds complicate things.
Lets say we have a longing. How many times do we reflect on it and go for it. I think more often than not we judge it, compare it, qualify it, make absurd, doubt it and create excuses why it is just so impractical.
If I look back on my life I see that when I have done this, my happiness is sucked right out of me. I feel like I am boxed in and that I am dishonoring myself. I feel miserable because I am not doing something my heart knows it should be doing.
Conversely I know for a fact that when I follow my longing, I feel juiced up for life. I feel joy and I feel in my power. I feel confident and I live in faith. I show up to life differently. I notice things more.
When I was nineteen I went to Paris for two weeks. I made the decision I would come back and live in Paris for a year after I finished my business degree. Fast forward five years, I ended up staying there for two. While there I drank Muscadet on the Champs-Elysees, met a beautiful Spanish girl, went to chic parties, ran out of money (after nine months), worked with a Venezuelan artist in Geneva for two months, found a job in design back in Paris and had the time of my life!
I remember years I did not follow my longings. Not much to tell. They sucked.
What they did tell me is that I love life so much that I made a promise to follow my longings. It’s been a blast. It makes the hard times less difficult. It makes the good times even sweeter. The heart knows what it knows.
