Walk, don't run!

We are on higher speed until New Year’s. But don’t run into 2013, be ready to enjoy. And that is easy.
42 days to 2013. When I think about the coming weeks, I feel the need for slowing down a little. I don’t want to rush into the New Year. I want to reflect on the old year, make my wishes and plans for the New Year, and then step in anticipation into 2013. It’s a bit like having opera tickets for the Met in New York but being late and not having time to relish the anticipation and dress carefully etc. My brain would be busy with thoughts like: How does my hair look? I should have taken more time for make-up. Are there creases in my gown? I think this guy just looked funny at me. Maybe my lipstick is not where it is supposed to be. Do I have my earrings?….. I would be enjoying the opera, sure, but somehow I wanted to be there relaxed and able to immerse yourself 100% into beautiful music and a wonderful atmosphere. Not only 70%.
I don’t want to run into the New Year out of breath and with my hair in a mess. I want to step into the New Year calm and prepared, ready to enjoy. Because of course there will be so much I want to do, want to achieve, to have fun with in 2013.
The days right after Thanksgiving offers us one last chance to take a deep breath and spend some time with us, for us. Before the time flies again and the holiday craziness starts. Time to go outside, to look inside, to make discoveries and start with preparations for an energized start into a new year. Put 15 minutes per day, per week, every other day, whatever works for you, on your schedule and use it for your ”get ready for new adventures in a new year program” and have a happy start on January 1. 15 minutes is plenty of time. We always think it has to be at least an hour. But there is so much you can do in just 15 minutes. Try it. And then, at midnight on December 31: walk in a Happy New Year.
