"Whether you think you can or think you can't --you are right". Henry Ford
Are you on a roll with leading or managing a specific area of your life right now? Do you feel successful and somewhat proud but also nervous about how much longer you can continue or if it was just luck vs. talent? Guess what?! It isn’t luck but talent and blessings. Claim your gifts and continue to soar.
Ok, so you’re still not feeling so confident in yourself? You’re familiar with the phrase “Fake it till you make it” which means to imitate confidence until success flows in and then true confidence actually takes over. It’s a self-fulfilling prophesy where you act “As If” even before the “If” happens. Think yourself thin and you will lose weight. Throw enthusiasm into your conversations and you’ll find a natural excitement that will be heard in your tone. Wear a happy smile and joy will pour into your heart even when you feel like frowning.
As you try to “Fake it till you make it”, if you still hear an inner voice bringing doubts into your head and pulling you down, then it’s time to change the inner dialogue. Do you hear “what if I fail” or “what if everyone laughs at me” or “I hope I don’t forget what I’m supposed to say”? If so, how about talking back to yourself “if I forget something, no one may notice, so keep talking” or “what is the worst that could happen—I would try again tomorrow” or “I am capable of succeeding in any venture and how long it takes me doesn’t matter as long as I don’t give up” or “I’ve done well before and can do it again”.
Quieting the inner negativity may require a little more help…physically. When you feel your nerves taking over, close your eyes, breathe deeply and continuously not choppy. Then visualize past wins and see YOU succeeding in new challenges. It has been said that the mind cannot tell the difference between the imagination and the reality. As scary as that sounds, use it to your advantage and picture yourself at the height of your success and maintaining it through your abilities and talents.
Lastly turn your thoughts to your favor in every instance. Believe that there will be opportunities not lucky breaks and that you are surrounded by people who will support you and your success. With everything and everyone on your side, WHY STOP NOW! Stay on your roll!
