What’s in Your Jar? Creating Hope, Building Faith
To help children have hope in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy or any other traumatic event...

What are we going to do?
How are we going to make it?
When will life be normal again?
1. Find a jar with a lid, such a jelly jar.
2. Have your child decorate the jar using ribbon, stickers, paint, etc. Whatever you have is fine.
3. Daily, have your child place something hopeful in the jar. It can be a scripture, a thought, or an item.
A scripture. Jeremiah 29:11.
A thought. Next year, we will have the biggest Christmas tree in our new home.
An item. A piece of sheet rock reminds us that God will help rebuild.
Hope is knowing that something can happen. And like Hebrews 11:1 says, “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
4. Weekly, ask your child to share what’s in their Hope Jar and pray together.
