another perspective on what it means...
Forgiveness, Empathy and Compassion
I’m working on a little experiment. It goes something like this. I really don’t care to analyze why anymore. I’m not saying I don’t want to learn, or that I don’t care about anything anymore. I just am past analyzing everything to death.
For instance, why is the cashier at JJ bean coffee rude to me? What got in her panties today to make her so miserable towards me and to the world? I leave it alone. It saves me a lot of energy. I avoid calling her a bitch in my mind, telling myself the story over and over again in my mind and I avoid telling it to anyone who will listen.
Take it one step further. I don’t let it bother me. Stop. I choose different. By letting go of the dialogue of right and wrong I offer forgiveness to her, the situation and myself. I find the more I enter into life’s interactions with a sense of care and purpose more and more people are startled by my genuine question of “how are you?” asked with a smile. They pause and smile back. When they don’t I don’t take it personally. This is compassion. I stop the cycle of negativity with me. I don’t force feed it to the next person I meet. I recycle it. I turn shit into gold.
Now that’s money.
